Silver Sillago

Silver Sillago is the most widespread and abundant member of the smelt-whiting family Sillaginidae. Common along beaches, sandbars, mangrove creeks and estuaries. It is a delicacy for food lovers commonly used in South East Asian countries.
 

It is common along beaches, sandbars, mangrove creeks and estuaries. They usually are found forming schools and adults bury themselves in the sand when disturbed.
 

Lady Fish mainly feeds on polychaete worms, small prawns, shrimps and amphipods, Oviparous, Larvae and juveniles are pelagic feeding on planktons.
